ICSI Treatment For Infertility
What Is ICSI?
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced fertility treatment that helps overcome male infertility. A single healthy sperm is directly injected into a mature egg to ensure fertilization, even with very low sperm quality.
ICSI is recommended for couples with severe male factor infertility, low sperm count, poor motility, or previous IVF failures. This precise technique improves fertilization rates and increases the chances of a successful pregnancy.
How ICSI Works
The process starts with ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval from the female partner. Meanwhile, the male partner provides a semen sample from which the healthiest sperm is selected.
A single selected sperm is then injected into each mature egg under a powerful microscope. Fertilized eggs develop into embryos which are monitored and later transferred into the uterus to establish pregnancy.
Things to Consider Before ICSI
- Recommended for severe male factor infertility or low sperm count.
- Useful in cases of previous IVF failures or poor sperm motility.
- Requires advanced lab facilities and skilled embryologists.
- Increases fertilization rates and chances of successful pregnancy.
